Nestled in a unique spot of the old town by the river, protected by ‘bâtiments de France’ is the maison d’hôte and bistro Viens Vienne.
Unique in that the row of buildings was once part of the tanneries. These buildings were built around 350 years ago and are part of a bygone era.
Eymoutiers is a market town in the Haute Vienne, birthplace of Rebeyrolle, an internationally renowned artist. This is the gateway to the ‘plateau de mille vaches’ and Portes de Vassivière which is a region of outstanding natural beauty and National Park. Both quiet and unassuming yet not ‘cut off’. Several festivals in this area every year, including the Bobines Rebeyelles (rebel reels) festival at Lake Vassiviére in June.
The capital city of the Haute Vienne is Limoges which is the centre of the china industry in France. Limoges has a beautiful old town with many interesting features, including porcelain museums, aquarium, Parc Zoo Reynou, the gothic Cathédrale St-Étienne which took 6 centuries to complete, botanical gardens l’Evêché, château de Châlucet, fine arts museum and many others including galleries.
